Introduction:

We are looking for an empathetic, strategic, and technically grounded Team Lead Tech (m/f/d) to act as a hybrid "Player-Coach" for our squad. Simply put: You are the highest technical authority in your team. You set and defend the architectural direction while staying hands-on enough to maintain deep technical credibility and serve as a stabilizing anchor ("The Lighthouse") for your team.

Your Objectives & Role:

  • Orchestrate Architecture: Lead high-level architectural discussions and guide your squad through complex trade-offs. Defend the scalability, quality, and stability of our event-driven cloud infrastructure.
  • Lead by Example: Stay close to the metal. Actively contribute production-grade code, tackle core features, and conduct peer Merge Request reviews to elevate engineering standards.
  • Empower High-Performing Teams: Cultivate talent with deep empathy. You will develop and mentor engineers, fostering an environment of continuous feedback, psychological safety, and growth. By shielding your team from operational noise, you enable deep focus while consistently raising the bar for excellence across the department.
  • Bridge Strategy & Execution: Translate high-level business goals into actionable technical objectives. Partner with Product Managers to balance feature delivery with technical debt reduction.
  • Instill Ownership: Drive an entrepreneurial spirit within your squad. Help engineers understand the "why" behind every line of architecture and keep customer impact at the center of their work.

Your Expertise, Skills & Mindset:

  • Real Seniority: We value direct business impact and a drive for continuous improvement over a flat number of years. We welcome established Engineering Managers or Senior/Staff Engineers ready to step into leadership. Disciplinary experience is a plus, not a must.
  • Production Track Record: You have designed, owned, and scaled distributed, event-driven systems at a meaningful scale (ideally within a fast-paced SaaS or IoT scale-up environment). You confidently defend architectural trade-offs (consistency, throughput, cost).
  • Technical Fluency: You are fluent in our primary backend stack (Node.js/TypeScript) or our IoT environment (C++, Python) and understand cloud architectures (AWS). You possess the technical depth to review a senior's MR, constructively challenge their logic, and help them improve.
  • Agile Native: You have deep proficiency with project management tools (Linear, Jira) and agile methodologies. You know how to use data to improve team velocity and release frequency.
  • People-First Mentality: You possess high emotional intelligence (EQ). You are proactive, empathetic, and capable of motivating a diverse team. You hold yourself and others accountable with kindness and clarity.
  • Operational Rigor: You are structured and conscientious. You can manage complex stakeholders and communicate effectively with both engineers and C-level executives.
  • Communication: Excellent English communication skills (C1+) are mandatory. German proficiency is a strong plus.

Technologies We Work With:

  • Backend: Event-driven microservices in NodeJS (NestJS).
  • Frontend: Monorepo powered by Turbo, pnpm, changesets, and Storybook, primarily using Vue.js.
  • IoT Stack: Embedded and edge solutions in C++ and Python.
  • Frameworks/Libraries:  Adoption of TypeScript, NestJS, BullMQ, and Prisma for backends in an opinionated monorepo approach.
  • Databases: Amazon RDS, DynamoDB, S3.
  • Orchestration & CI/CD: We manage our container orchestration with Kubernetes (EKS), using Keda and Karpenter for dynamic autoscaling. Our CI/CD is powered by GitLab.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform for AWS provisioning.
  • Serverless: Leveraging AWS Lambda and the Serverless framework for high-throughput endpoints.

Work Setup:

  • Hours: 40 hours per week (based on trust).
  • Home Office Policy: Enjoy a hybrid model with 3 days in the office / 2 days remote.
  • Contract: A permanent contract for long-term stability
