(Lead) IoT Procurement Engineer (m/f/d)

München
Full-time
Permanent employee

Introduction:

Are you ready to join a dynamic, fast-growing company and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of mobility? At Peter Park, we are seeking a (Lead) IoT Procurement Engineer (m/f/d)  to collaborate with our team in advancing our diverse IoT product landscape. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving and refining our hardware strategy.

Our Objectives and your Role:

  • IoT & Embedded Systems Development: Design, build, and integrate IoT devices for commercial or industrial applications, centered around vision-based automated license plate recognition (ALPR) or customer interaction (digital signage, digital access control systems), ensuring seamless performance and reliability.
  • Supplier sourcing & qualification: Identify, evaluate and onboard manufacturers and component suppliers worldwide.
  • Collaborative Development: Work closely with other engineers and stakeholders to maintain high standards of quality and innovation.
  • Project Management: Oversee and manage the entire lifecycle of IoT projects, from initial concept through to successful delivery, ensuring timelines and objectives are met.
  • RFQs & cost analysis: Run RFQs, compare quotations on technical fit and total landed cost, and drive cost down across the BOM.
  • Negotiation: Negotiate price, volume tiers, MOQ, payment terms and lead times.
  • Technical specifications: Turn engineering and operations requirements into clear supplier specs, and review drawings and samples with the IoT teams.
  • Supplier quality: Define acceptance criteria, manage sample and pilot orders, and make sure production matches the approved design.
  • Order & supply management: Place and track orders, and manage production schedules, shipping and customs.
  • Stakeholder alignment: Keep engineering, operations, warehouse and finance aligned on hardware decisions.
  • Outcome Ownership: Own the outcomes of our hardware decisions end to end: availability, cost, quality and field reliability. Done means the hardware runs stably on customer sites, not that the order went out.
  • Domain Stewardship: Own our hardware portfolio and supplier base. Anticipate end-of-life and supply risks early and build second sources before they become urgent.
  • Technical Leadership: Act as technical lead for our hardware initiatives and make the call on technical fit, cost and risk.
  • Team Enablement: Make others better at hardware decisions through coaching, playbooks and documentation, so the team can decide well without you.

Your Expertise, Skills & Mindset:

  • You hold a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a comparable field.
  • You have 6+ years of experience in IoT, embedded or hardware engineering, of which at least 3 years in supplier sourcing or supplier management.
  • You have a proven track record as technical lead for cross-functional hardware projects.
  • You have experience  in software development for edge computing devices.
  • You are familiar with simulation tools and test procedures to validate hardware designs.
  • You are a creative problem solver who applies innovative approaches to hardware development.
  • You work with precision and attention to detail.
  • You have outstanding diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • You are fluent in English (Chinese is a big plus, German is a plus)

Work Setup:

  • Hours: 40 hours per week (based on trust)
  • Home Office Policy: 3 days in the office / 2 days remote
  • Contract: Permanent contract
  • Location: Munich
